How did these apps turn into another dating app?

There were some apps, the original purposes of them were not for dating, but end up having a quite amount of their users are using them for dating/hookups. How did that happen and what are these apps?

1. Airbnb

A‌i‌r‌b‌n‌b‌ headquartered in San Francisco, operates a global online marketplace and hospitality service. Members can use the service to arrange or offer lodging, primarily homestays, or tourism experiences. However, according to Business Insider, Some travelers start to base on the host’s appearance or level of fuckability as criteria when choosing an Airbnb rental for vacation. Even though Airbnb may unlikely to endorse such behavior, but some users told Business Insider that they had slept with people or been hit on as a result of transactions that were facilitated through its platform.

2. Uber

Uber offers a peer-to-peer ridesharing service. Uber allows almost any people to be a taxi driver with their own car, and Uber itself become the largest taxi company without owning a car. However, hooking up with Uber drivers sounds like sexual thrill-seeking and no surprising there are some women as well as men are doing it. One woman asking: “I fucked my Uber driver and I still paid him. Did he just provide an escort service?” Uber creates a semi-anonymous condition, which seems even more encouraging casual sexual encounter.

3. Nearal

Nearal is also a Silicon Valley based company, provides a location-based business social service, where people can search for nearby professionals, can also list their own profession, hourly rate, and tell people what they are seeking for or offering. However, more and more people start to use Nearal app for dating or hookups. Some people are using Nearal app for serious dating aiming for a relationship, because with Nearal, he/she can know the other one’s profession, which make them more trustable. Of course, some others may just use Nearal to hookup, and even show off on their timelines about their unique dating experiences with different professionals, and start to build up their collections.

4. CouchSurfing

CouchSurfing is a hospitality and social networking service. Members set up an online identity. Members can either directly request lodging from other members or post their travel plans publicly and receive offers from other members. For them, there are more chances to have “no strings attached” free sex.

Even though many apps like we just mentioned here, their original purpose and main function were not for hookups, however, users end up using their platform for dating, or even casual sex. Mankind is just always so smart; it seems almost any app can be turned into a hook-up app if we’re just willing to be creative.
